Food Sensitivities
A child with a food sensitivity has symptoms from an immune system reaction after eating a particular food. Symptoms from a food sensitivity can take up to 72 hours to appear. Opposed to allergic reactions to food where symptoms usually start within minutes.
When the immune system overreacts to food, we call it food allergy (when it raises the antibody IgE) or food sensitivity (when it increases the antibody IgG). Food allergies can be life-threatening, whereas food sensitivities aren’t life-threatening.
Symptoms related to food sensitivities include:
- Bloating
- Indigestion
- Constipation
- Headaches
- Brain fog
- Fatigue
- Acne
- Rashes
Food sensitivities are diagnosed with blood testing.
Conventional medicine doesn’t yet recognize the clinical utility of food sensitivity testing.
