Hey there!

I’m Dr. Sue, a board-certified pediatrician, writer, & faith-filled optimist dedicated to helping your child rebalance back to health. I’m so grateful you’re here!

I’d reach through the screen and give you and your child great big hug, but hugs aren’t happening until we meet in person. So keep reading. I’ll explain my story and how I can serve your child.

My Story

I don’t remember the first moment I decided to become a doctor, but I do remember my truest intention in becoming one was to somehow, in someway, help others. It was a heart calling, calling me to ease another’s suffering. So the journey began: med school; residency; chief residency. Head down, in the grind, focused on sucking in every drop of knowledge possible from books and mentors. I tried my best to do everything “right”, but within two years of practice I felt imbalanced and disconnected.

I was also just married and trying to conceive. All I wanted was a happy, healthy baby. But instead I had miscarriage after miscarriage. It was a horribly painful process…but I learned. I learned that my miscarriages were blessings in disguise. I learned I was imbalanced. But most importantly I learned what I was seeking…health! Health is balance. But I couldn’t go to my OB and ask for balance. That would be like going to McDonald’s and asking for pastured chicken on organic greens! It’s not an option. They don’t offer it. My OB (whom I adore) offered me two options.

Option 1: Wait and see.

I want a baby NOW. I’m ready! Wait and see? Puleeease!!! My zen Self replied calmly, serenely, “Patience.” To which I snapped back, “Who has time for patience?!?!” (Clearly I had more to learn about divine timing.)

Option 2: Try a drug.

“Ugh…so tempting,” I thought. “It might bring me my baby sooner!” Ahhh, a rush of immediate gratification washed over me.“Yes!” I said to myself. ”Who cares about divine timing?!? How can I trust there’s a higher plan for my parenting journey?” My mind chatter continued but eventually ended with, “A drug doesn’t feel like the right thing to do.”

I declined both options and leaned into conversation with the Divine. The insight to try acupuncture came. We not only conceived, but I didn’t miscarry and our first daughter was born. Hallelujah! That was just the beginning of our parenting journey. My fourth miscarriage (a second trimester loss) hit my “personal growth” acceleration pedal big time! Loss has a way of doing that. I had to elevate myself above the dark cloud of miscarriage I was standing under. I had to find a higher meaning for my deep sorrow. It was as if my ten years of head “schooling” – soaking up knowledge – were followed by ten more years of heart “schooling” – connecting with Spirit.

I’m familiar with pain, loss, not getting what you want for your child, wanting to take the easy way out, and knowing in your heart there’s a better way. So I evolved to help myself and my patients re-balance through diet and lifestyle changes. It’s a step-by-step process that simplifies your nutrition and supplementation for health. Which brings me to your child…

How I Can Serve Your Child….

As a conventional medical doctor I was trained to use pharmaceuticals to treat dis-ease. Prescribing medication to manage dis-ease felt like putting a bandage on a patient’s boo-boo to make it go away. Every parent knows bandages don’t make boos boos go away, they cover them up. Out of sight, out of mind, right? Bandages work great for simple cuts, where the body can heal and rebalance itself easily, but for chronic dis-ease it’s a different story. Once you remove the bandages or medications, the boo-boos or symptoms return. Once you remove the topical steroid cream, the eczema returns. If you take a break from the stimulant medication, the inattention or hyperactivity comes back. Sound familiar?

I’m so inspired by how you show up so powerfully in the world. Thank you for all you do to help others live happier healthier lives.
